LEWI Walks
Our first walk this year was on Sunday 23rd January at 10am. Four members met at Asda for a walk to Trent Lock.
LEWI Walks 2021
We started at the Stanhope Arms Car Park for our last Sunday walk . Many miles and stiles were including in this fabulous walk in the brilliant sunshine. Ruth was once more our most knowledgeable guide and walk leader . The walk finished with coffee for some and cold drinks for others at the Stanhope Arms.
Brilliant sunshine, good company, great scenery and a knowledgeable guide. What more could you want for a Sunday afternoon walk? Five members met at the Carpenters Arms Dale Abbey and saw the remaining arch of the Abbey, Locko park and the lake and went past 2 teashops finally finishing with a long cold drink back at the Carpenters.

On Sunday 25th July a small group of LEWi members met around Stoney Clouds, followed by a refreshing pub stop.
(Thanks to Lisa for the photos).
LEWI ladies walked from Breaston to Church Wilne on Sunday 20th June. They saw meadows, woodland and had a lesson in medieval strip farming. Nature played a big part too with bird spotting, dealing with a plague of mini frogs and saying hello to random dogs. (Thanks to Debbie Walker for the photos) .
And then there were two! Emma and Lynn braved the elements for a walk from Attenborough Nature Reserve to Beeston Marina on Tuesday 30th July. The weather had been awful and lots of our regular walkers had already had a drenching that day and decided to give this one a miss. However we had a great chat and a drink at the Marina before setting off for home, all without getting wet.
There were no takers for the final summer evening walk on Tuesday 27th August from Trent Lock due to rain and threatened storms after a very warm day.
Emma promised no mud! There was lots on the LEWI Legs walk on Tuesday 25th June around Trent Lock but it didn't stop us having a great time as you can see from the photo above.
Three miles, a few stiles and lots of great company on our walk around Risley on Sunday 7th April.
It was a beautiful day for it and we really appreciated Jane showing us the route.
Emma, Colleen, Catherine, Mo, Lisa, Denise and Lynn all took part.
The walk on Sunday 3rd March around Dale Abbey was cancelled due to the very wet weather.
Eleven ladies and Oscar the dog braved the weather on Sunday 3rd February for a circular walk from Trent Meadows along the river towards Trent Lock. Chris and Janette (with Oscar), Jane, Colleen and Catherine, Alison, Jan, Gaynor, Denise and Lynn joined Emma on a muddy but very enjoyable walk
On Sunday 4th November we met at Elvaston Castle and had a very pleasant autumn stroll round the lake, through the woods and the Old English Garden. Emma was our group leader and Mo, Jane, Karen, Lynn, Chris, Janet (and doggy friend) had a really great afternoon. The weather stayed mostly dry and the autumn colours were glorious, there are still lots of leaves on the trees and underfoot.
On Sunday 2nd December, five LEWI members walked around Church Wilne.
Ten of us met at Attenborough Cricket Club on Sunday 6th January for a very pleasant walk along the river to Beeston Weir, had a hot drink at the cafe and Heritage Centre (and cake may have been involved) before heading back. The starlings hadn't put in an appearance when we passed the reed beds but by all accounts they were amazing when they did come at dusk. Thanks as always to our group leader Emma, to Jan who suggested the walk, and to Mo, Jean, Clare, Jackie, Gaynor, Hazel, Denise and Lynn for taking part. A lovely afternoon in great company.
